We would like to announce Brisban’s biggest outdoor party to celebrate loving our minds and bodies and raise money for mental health research this country. On Friday the 18th of MAY, all people are encouraged to move along to Brisbane Square during their lunch break to “Check their five and Stay Alive” a campaign devised by Brisbane based entrepreneur Rachel Bowes to encourage better mental health for all people anywhere, anytime, and anyplace – Your Body drives your mind! Catherine House is very fortunate to have ten runners participating in the 2011 New York City Marathon, to raise funds to support the work of its highly successful Education and Employment Program, and I am one of them! Places in the Marathon are very much prized; there is much competition both in the USA, and internationally, to be able to pound the streets of Manhattan! Rotary Club of Brisbane Mid City – Mad Hatter’s Day

As part of the Australian Rotary health initiative called “Hat day” to raise awareness and funds for mental health research in this country our club hosted a Mad Hatter’s tea part in Post Office Square during our usual lunchtime Rotary meeting The event was themed and staged to reflect many of the metaphors and symbolism as projected in Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” narrative to highlight some of the more subtle triggers that relate to mental health issues.
